The Model 3000M Sonic Leak Detector can save you time and money by preventing disastrous shutdowns. Discover leaks which were previously difficult to find by checking machinery while it is operating.  Leaks and other vibration sources produce a broad band of ultrasonic noise. Experiments have shown that peak amplitudes for many of these problem areas are around 45KHz; well above the sounds which the human ear can hear. The 3000M will translate the ultrasonic frquences between 30 and 50 KHz into an audible output. In addition, the 90° taut-band meter provides visual indication of signal strength. As a result, the user can quickly identify the source of the problem. The 3000M is lightweight with a belt-clip and probe holder which makes it easy to wear; the controls are located on the top of the detector unit for easy access. The high resolution stereo headphones come with individual volume control for each ear; they are comfortable enough to wear all day. Two individual probes are included, a contact probe for detecting ultrasonic sound transmitted along the surface of a rigid structure, and a air probe for detecting airborned ultrasonic signals in a 22° angle from its tuned directional cone which ignores all sonic background frequencies commonly found in a noisy factory. The air probe makes it easy to pinpoint leaks even at great distances. The focusing extension and fine extension attach to the air probe to further narrow the search patterns f the air probe making it easier and faster to find the source of the leak. The ultrasonic transmitter (included) provides a convenient means for checking tightness control in non-pressurized compartments such as tanks, cars, chambers and containers. Simply place the transmitter in the container under investigation and switch it on to emit an ultrasonic signal; this signal will pass through any orifice or faulty seal and will be quickly located by the 3000M. The 3000M can also be connected to a tape recorder providing valuable reference data for later use.
