Using refractometers for starch percentage measurement
In the adhesives, paper and textiles industries refractometers have been
used in manufacturing for checking
the concentration of starch and sizing solutions.
These refractometers provide a percentage measurement
of the total soluble (starch/sizing)
solids in the solution. They do not differentiate between the types of
soluble
solids, but provide a reading which represents the total soluble solids present.
